Holiday Decorating Tips with Nate Berkus

We loved him on Oprah and now that he has his own show, we just can’t get enough of Nate Berkus. The Quick Tip Chix ask the talented and adorable Nate to share some holiday decorating tips.

Holiday Tips:

1- Garland, especially the ones made of golden palm or rattan, is easily repurposed into napkin rings for your holiday meal. The burlap used to carry the pine garland home can be shaken out and fashioned into a rustic runner down the dining room table.

2- White lights and pine garland woven together and draped over doorways, are easier to manage than a 6 foot tall spruce and look just as festive.

3- Bowls filled with mercury glass ornaments in silver and gold make for an elegant centerpiece.

4- The bird ornaments everyone adds to the tree for good luck make clever place card holders.

5- Consider using all the tree’s trimmings, just forgo the tree. That means no pushing furniture around the living room to make a place for the tree. No pine needles to sweep up. No tree. No rule book says you have to have one anyways.

6- And, even though you didn’t cut down a tree, plenty of other people did. So, ask your local tree guy to slice up one of the leftover stumps. The wood serves as the perfect candle holder, coaster or trivet for the table.
